Mahalo to all who attended our event and learned about ʻOhana100, the Daniel Kahikina Akaka Family Foundation and our work. I know that everyone who was there has Aloha in their hearts for Senator Akaka, not only for what he did in life but for the wonderful person that he was.

Senator Akaka, my grandfather, worked with me to build this foundation based on his desire to strengthen education and knowledge for the benefit of our community as it progresses into the future.  I am committed to seeing that these values are served through this foundation and that his legacy is perpetuated.I believe each of us has a desire to share what we can for the benefit of others, for the benefit of our community, and knowing that what we shared no matter how big or small made a difference.  It’s what we do through this Foundation.  Please help us honor Senator Akaka and his legacy by contributing to ʻOhana100, the Daniel Kahikina Akaka Family Foundation. -David Mattson
