Dani Hickman has published four books with Island Hertiage, Pono, the Garden Guardian, How about a Pineapple?, Tako Lends a Helping Hand, and the early reader board book, Rainbow Friends in the Sea. Dani is a mom to four kids, three dogs, and one immature husband, which keeps her rich in content for writing. When she’s not writing, reading, or “Momming,” Dani works for the State of Hawaii, Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, and enjoys spending time in her tiny garden. Dani grew up on Oahu and now lives in West-side in Waipio.
The Board of Water Supply manages Oahu's municipal water resources and distribution system. The BWS provides residents with safe and dependable water service at a reasonable cost. Monies collected from water sales finance its operations and projects.
HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union originally started a teacher’s credit union in 1936 and through the years they have grown into the largest credit union in the state. HawaiiUSA supports teachers with scholarships, stipends and discounts on mortgages and other products. HawaiiUSA is a huge proponent of financial literacy in the schools and community. HawaiiUSA currently supports seven schools in the state, with student operated credit unions, sponsor financial literacy materials to 150+ schools through the state and facilitate financial literacy workshops to community partners, private and public schools and employees of business partners.
Tammy Yee is an award-winning author/illustrator of more than 40 children’s books. She grew up in Hawai’i where she explored tide pools, swam in streams, and wrote and illustrated spooky stories her teachers politely read. In 2022, she was inducted into the Children's Literature of Hawaii's (CLH) Hall of Fame.
The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs mission is to protect Hawaii’s consumers and service its business community with respect and fairness to the interests of both. Brady Evans is a concept artist and illustrator born, raised, and working in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi currently working in the games industry. With a strong interest in manga and other forms of sequential imagery and storytelling, he enjoys creating stories and characters that draw on folklore from around the world as well as his own experiences and multi-cultural family history. He received a BFA in Drawing from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 2012 and his work is in the collection of the Hawaiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and numerous private collections throughout the country.
Patricia Wood was born in Seattle, Washington. Throughout her life she’s had many careers and interests: she was a med tech in the Army, a horseback riding instructor, a scuba diver, an underwater photographer, a sailor. She researched sharks at Midway Atoll, she taught Marine Science to high-risk students in Honolulu, Hawaii and, through her novel writing, she’s an advocate for those who are differently abled.
While working on a PhD at the University of Hawaii, Patricia earned her certificate in Disability Studies. Her debut novel Lottery was published by Putnam and has been translated into 29 languages. Lottery was short-listed for the 2008 Orange Prize for fiction in the UK. She had also contributed a short story for an anthology composed of Hawaii authors, Sunset Inn Tales from the North Shore.
