Subway Ride

A Senator’s schedule is never simple – he or she constantly needs to be in multiple places at once. This makes it especially challenging for staff who need the lawmaker’s time to discuss issues at hand, analyze upcoming votes, relay important messages from committees or other Senate offices, and the like. Sometimes the only time left for such conversation with Senator Akaka presented itself during brief Senate subway rides between the Senate office buildings and U.S. Capitol. This photo is of one such opportunity with Senator Akaka – precious time to discuss the business of the people as well as share a moment of levity.
